JOB DESCRIPTION:  Adventure Activities Assistant Director - Seasonal - ON GROUNDS

                         

REPORTS TO:   Adventure Activities Director

                     

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  

This position supervises our Adventure Activities Facilitators while working with them as they facilitate people of all ages and abilities through low and high challenge course elements, our zip line program and climbing walls.  They will have office time schedule to create the weekly staffing schedule as well.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have worked a season as a Facilitator
  • Possess strong leadership skills
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Be able to pass the YMCA of the Rockies approved driver training
  • Must be physically able to climb with extra weight and spend extended periods of time at 40+ feet in our high ropes course, zip line and zip tower
  • Regularly lifts up to 30 lbs up to shoulder height
  • Must have strong outdoor leadership skills and experience
  • Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for guests, members and staff
  • Willingness to work outside everyday regardless of the weather
  • Current proof of CPR/First Aid is required
  • Previous experience working as a rock climbing instructor/ropes course facilitator is a plus, but training will be provided
  • Certification through university outdoor programs, NOLS, Outward Bound, NCCT, etc desirable

  • (This is mainly a summer only position.  There will be a few fall positions available)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support and empower seasonal staff in their day to day duties
  • Create staff schedules
  • Must pass YMCA driver training
  • Teaches beginner and intermediate rock climbing to children and families aged 12+up attending the YMCA Day Camp Program and YMCA Family Programming.
  • Lead groups of guests on our zip line, high and low ropes course and climbing wall
  • Print session rosters and collect waivers for groups
  • Duties as assigned
  • Keep work area clean

COMPENSATION:

This is a seasonal, hourly (based on 40 hours/week) position, paying $260/week, with employee perks including:

  • Room (shared room in our staff dormitory with free wifi and no bills!)

DRUG/ALCOHOL POLICY:

We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol or drugs on property; in addition, no drug use is tolerated (including marijuana) during your employment with us whether on- or off-duty. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

REFERENCES:

 

Two references must be someone who know you professionally (former or current manager, supervisor, teacher, professor, coach, pastor, etc.) and one reference must be a family member.
