Adventure Activities Facilitator/ Housekeeping Hybrid

Position Summary:

This hybrid position works 20 hours per week in Adventure Activities and 20 hours per week in housekeeping. The Adventure Activities Facilitator leads guests, members and YMCA staff on hikes and provides interpretation in and around the YMCA grounds, belays for the climbing wall and provides customer service and administrative support at the Mountain Center info Desk. Housekeeping staff are responsible for having assigned cabins and lodge rooms cleaned by check- in time and to meet the expectations of the supervisors and guests.

What We Offer

Essential Functions:

  • Safely lead groups on hikes and nature walks of 2 to 4 miles in a variety of weather conditions
  • Engage in conversation for long periods of time and keep people involved and educated
  • Know and adhere to hiking policies and procedures set forth by YMCA of the Rockies
  • Facilitate climbing wall sessions
  • Lead team building sessions on the low ropes course
  • Answer questions and give guidance and hiking suggestions at hiking desk in Mountain Center
  • Use a computer to assist guests in enrolling for Y Programs
  • Handle cash/credit cards and use a cash register to record deposits for borrowed hiking equipment and merchandise sales
  • Call hikers prior to hikes to confirm attendance and make logistical arrangements
  • Clean cabins and lodge rooms
  • Clean lobbies and public areas
  • Work on a crew with 3-8 co- workers
  • Efficiently clean guest accommodations including the following tasks: clean fireplaces, vacuum and dust, strip linens and make beds, wash windows, clean toilets sinks and showers, empty trash, mop and sweet floors, etc.
  • Work with various types of cleaning chemicals
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Must have up-to-date certifications in Wilderness First Aid and CPR (Can be obtained during training)
  • Must have knowledge of RMNP and surrounding areas
  • Must have a high degree of skill working with people of all ages
  • Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards
  • Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to hike 5 miles per day in remote areas
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds of gear
  • Must be able to converse with people of all backgrounds for up to 4 hours at a time
  • Must be able to squat, stoop, bend and stand for long periods of time
