Reports To: Center Services Manager

Position Summary:

Sets up and cleans conference rooms and public areas and satisfies the needs of conference groups regarding equipment requirements. Always works to ensure conference facilities present a good appearance. This can include snow removal in winter months. Must be an approved SMR driver able to move equipment and supplies between buildings and lift 50lbs up to 4 feet high and carry it 50 feet. Draws equipment malfunctions and problems to the attention of responsible staff members for correction.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • 4 weeks for first time volunteer in this position
  • As an On-Grounds Volunteer, there is a minimum service of at least 24 - 28 hours per week depending on the season. Peak Times - 28 Hours per Week - Saturday before Memorial Day through Saturday after Labor Day; Two Saturdays before Christmas through 1st weekend of April. Off-Peak Times - 24 Hours per Week - 1st weekend of April through Saturday before Memorial Day; Saturday after Labor Day through 2 Saturdays before Christmas


  • Hands-on experience in event set-ups, audio visual equipment operation, and cleaning skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize daily workloads.
  • Possess basic computer skills and ability to learn property management software.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics and algebra.
  • Possess excellent diplomatic organizational, interpersonal and phone communication skills.
  • Possess physical stamina for strenuous all-day work and ability to bend, stoop, kneel, vacuum, walk and scrub using soap and other cleaning chemicals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to fluently read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to get in and out of vehicles up to 100 times a day.
  • Ability to independently lift and carry supplies and other equipment weighting up to 50 lbs. to counter height, in and out of vehicles, and up and down stairs.
  • Ability to access all facilities to market Snow Mountain Ranch through site tours and presentations.
  • Ability to operate office and audiovisual equipment, including but not limited to, computers, printers, computerized PBX systems, microphones, speakers and soundboard.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate weekend, holiday and evening shifts.
  • Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.

Essential Functions:

  • Clean all meeting rooms and public facilities and restrooms.
  • Set up and remove/break-down meeting space chairs, tables, equipment, etc.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all public spaces, restrooms, meeting rooms and gathering areas.
  • Set-up all guest meeting spaces in a timely manner and ensure guest needs are met.
  • Responsible for appropriately using and maintaining all department equipment, machinery, chemicals and vehicles. Promptly report maintenance concerns and have vehicles and equipment serviced regularly.
  • Keep supply and equipment closets and storage rooms clean and organized.
  • Complete guest requests.
  • Meet both immediate and planned needs of groups throughout their stay.
  • Respond to problems, concerns, and emergencies, including returning to the Conference Office and facilities after hours.
  • Remove snow and ice from meeting room and lodge entrances.
  • Keep YMCA vehicles clean, organized and operating safely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Two uniform shirts or vest will be provided for you. You need to provide/wear your own comfortable, closed-toe shoes and trousers. Sweatpants or yoga type pants will not be permitted.


As a volunteer there is no compensation. Volunteer perks include:

  • Room
    • Pinewood Lodge: A smaller dorm facility that can house up to 75 staff and is attached to our administration building. This is our 40+ housing, primarily serving our volunteer community. Rooms are doubles and can accommodate a couple. Each room has a full bathroom. There is a TV lounge with refrigerator and microwave. All rooms have a private telephone and internet access.
    • Geronimo Campground: A campground with 26 sites ranging from 15-50 Amps. All sites have electric hook ups while others have additional water and/or sewer. Geronimo camp sites are open from mid-May to mid-September depending on the weather.
  • Board (3 buffet-style meals per day, 7 days per week)
  • Discounts, including:
    • Access to the YMCA of the Rockies facilities, which include: an indoor pool, basketball gymnasium, fitness classes, hiking/biking/skiing trails, library, and an art center
    • Free passes for skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and golf (dependent on season and resort)
    • Free gear rentals for sports and outdoor activities
    • Employee programming, including free or discounted staff trips, provided by the Human Resources Office
    • Discounted nights at YMCA of the Rockies lodges (with some date restrictions based on season/occupancy) and various local restaurants


We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol or drugs on property; in addition, no drug use is tolerated (including marijuana) during your employment with us whether on- or off-duty.

If you are a rehire and have served at YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center, Snow Mountain Ranch, or Camp Chief Ouray at any time during the past three years, references are not required.

ABOUT THE YMCA of the Rockies:

The YMCA of the Rockies operates two year-round family resorts and conference centers on each side of Rocky Mountain National Park: Estes Park Center located in Estes Park, CO; Snow Mountain Ranch located in Winter Park, CO; and Camp Chief Ouray, a summer resident camp for kids located on the Snow Mountain Ranch property.
