POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Day Camp Director, this position is in charge of the Teen Programs for campers aged between 13-17. This includes supervision of the Teen General Counselors throughout the summer. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating effectively and professionally with parents, working directly with registrars, and working with groups when needed. They should be role-models for the children exemplifying the 5 Core Values of YMCA of the Rockies; Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
*     Ability to plan, lead, organize, and implement program activities
*     Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
*     Ability to work with little direct supervision
*     Responsible for overseeing and managing the teen day camp counselors and programming
*    Responsible for overseeing the Staff Development Program and Teen Camp programming including being present for the overnight Teen Camp Outpost Program on Thursday nights.
*     Assist in planning and implementing of Day Camp Staff Training
*     Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of Day Camp programming
*     Assist in evaluation of Day Camp staff throughout the summer
*     Assist in maintaining YMCA, ACA, and Social Services Child Care Center standards
*     Identify and respond to camper behavior issues
*     Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
*     Understand and follow all emergency procedures associated with day camp
*     Understand and follow all safety guidelines for day camp
*     Clear communication with parents about camper's experiences at day camp
*     Ensure that day camp sites are kept clean, organized, and free of litter
*     Promote a cooperative, positive, and problem-solving environment at all times
*     Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse environment
*     Ability to work up to 40 hours weekly
*     Must have clean driving record with three or more years driving experience
*     Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards
*     All other duties as assigned
*       Prepare, develop and implement programs for all ages while working alongside other team leads and specialty counselors. (This may include but not limited to art/science projects, teaching camp songs, planning skits, etc.)
*     Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized and sanitary environment.
*     Assist in the success of all Youth Programs as needed.
*     Maintain a healthy, professional working relationship with all staff under supervision.
*     Assist in planning and implementing of Day Camp Staff Training.
*     Assist in planning, implementing and evaluation of Youth Programs for ages 5-18.
*     Help create and ensure that staff have and adhere to weekly schedules.
*     All other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as required

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
*     Must be at least 21 years of age.
*     Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education or Recreation related field or working towards related degree. 
*     Must have at least two years experience working at a residential or day camp
*     Experience working with children required
*     Previous supervisory experience preferred
*     Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, swimming, team building activities, campfires, skits, and physical games
*     Must enjoy working with young children
*     Possess excellent customer service skills
*     Must possess and maintain current First Aid and CPR Certification.
*     Must be fluent in speaking and writing English.
*     Must be able to walk up to 2 miles on uneven terrain.
*     Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
*     Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  
*     Able to work outdoors in all weather, hiking large distances over varied terrain.
*     Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up one (1) flight of steps.
*     Short bursts of stooping, kneeling, bending, standing for long periods of time, etc.
*     Prolonged periods at a computer and on the phone.

This is a seasonal position with a base pay rate of $12.82/hour (based on 40 hours/week). This position includes:
