$12.81 - $13.86 Hourly


The Gap Program Facilitator plans and leads staff enrolled in the Elevate Gap program on hikes, camping trips and adventurous activities throughout the Front Range and surrounding states. The Gap Program Facilitators also work shifts in program buildings to support program staff.

  • Safely lead groups on hikes and nature walks of 2 to 20 miles in a variety of weather conditions
  • Engage in conversation for long periods of time and keep people involved
  • Mentor a group of 6-9 young people during their time at the Y
  • Plan and work through logistics for Elevate activities
  • Attend and participate in weekly Gap Facilitator meetings
  • Know and adhere to policies and procedures set forth by YMCA of the Rockies
  • Lead groups of young people, age 18-22 on camping trips and other excursions
  • Transport Gap Participants to their weekly activities using a 15 passenger YMCA min bus
  • Communicate necessary information to Gap Participants
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Must have up-to-date certifications in Wilderness First Aid and CPR (Can be obtained during training)
  • Must have knowledge of RMNP and surrounding areas
  • Must have a high degree of skill working with young adults
  • Must have good organizational and assertive skills
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards
  • Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Camping, backpacking and wilderness experience preferred

  • Must be able to hike 5- 20 miles per day in remote areas
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds of gear
  • Must be able to converse with people of all backgrounds for up to 15 hours at a time
  • Must be able to squat, stoop, bend and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be comfortable with heights and participating in extreme sports
