Job Description

Position Summary:
The Housekeeping Volunteer assists the Housekeeping Department where needed. This includes laundry, stripping linen from lodges & cabins, cleaning, stocking, preparing cleaning supplies for housekeepers, cleaning and servicing the public Laundromat. Some weekend work is required.

Volunteer Requirements:
As an On-Grounds Volunteer, there is a minimum service of at least 24 - 28 hours per week depending on the season. Peak Times - 28 Hours per Week - Saturday before Memorial Day through Saturday after Labor Day; Two Saturdays before Christmas through 1st weekend of April. Off-Peak Times - 24 Hours per Week - 1st weekend of April through Saturday before Memorial Day; Saturday after Labor Day through 2 Saturdays before Christmas

Essential Functions / Requirements:
* Working as a team to clean lodges and cabin rooms, including: 
* fireplaces
* vacuuming carpet
* dusting
* stripping bed linens
* making beds
* washing windows
* cleaning toilets
* sinks and showers
*  emptying trash
* mopping and sweeping floors
* cleaning ovens
* Sorting, cleaning, drying and folding linen
* Packaging linen bundles for distribution and assisting in transporting linens
* Must be able to stand for the duration of your shift
* Must be able to carry 30 lbs. up and down stairs
* May need to move furniture and appliances up to 150 lbs. with another person
* Volunteers are held accountable for all duties of this position. Uniform:
Staff shirts provided. Black or khaki pants or knee length shorts required (no short shorts). Closed toe shoes required. Highly recommended for winter months (Oct-May): Layered wind/water resistant jackets, water resistant shoes/boots with good traction.

Room:
*     Volunteers will be assigned rooms with windows and a full bathroom. There are common areas with TVs, refrigerators and microwaves. All rooms have a private telephone and internet access.
*     Geronimo Campground is an alternative available for volunteers at Snow Mountain Ranch in the summer months(mid-May to mid-September). Please inquire for more details.
Board (3 buffet-style meals per day, 7 days per week):
Other employee perks and discounts include:
*     Access to the YMCA of the Rockies facilities and activities which include but are not limited to: an indoor pool, basketball gymnasium, fitness classes, hiking/biking/skiing trails, archery, ice skating, disc golf, mini-golf, climbing wall, library, bonfire rings, craft shop and more. *     Passes for skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and/or golf (dependent on season and resort - limited number available, first come first served basis)

*     Lodging Discount Nights at either YMCA of the Rockies location, $25 per room per night, based on availability

Discounts at local merchants
Shuttles for staff without vehicles based on season and availability for groceries, doctor, trips to town

Drug and Alcohol Policy:
We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol or drugs on property; in addition, no drug use is tolerated (including marijuana) during your employment with us whether on- or off-duty.
