The Master Carpenter is responsible for repairing and replacing all aspects of building construction associated with operations at Estes Park Center, as well as maintenance and repair of the Estes Park Center facilities. The carpentry work will be new construction, upgrading construction, and repair construction. Other work will be repair or maintenance as requested by guests, staff or as assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee Estes Park Center wood shop, including Inventory control, equipment maintenance, knowledge of tools and machinery, and management of devices.
- Performs and completes various carpentry tasks with quality craft to construct, maintain, repair, or modify buildings or facilities; repairing and replacing floors, windows and doors.
- Reads blueprints, sketches, and schematics to determine the necessary materials, equipment, tools, and methods.
- Ability to repair, replace, install and finish drywall.
- Experience in all types of paint and wood finish applications.
- Possess excellent finish carpentry skills.
- Recommends additional departmental or contract staff to complete projects and meet deadlines.
- Safely and efficiently operates a variety of power and hand tools to complete jobs accurately and to specifications.
- Protects furnishings, equipment, and other property during carpentry repairs by properly covering or removing items.
- Develops and maintain records regarding time spent and materials used for specific jobs.
- Provides status reports, including the status of work projects, materials used, and hours spent performing labor to the supervisor or other appropriate project lead.
- Performs spot checks on equipment to ensure proper working condition; services tools and equipment as needed and returns damaged items for repair or replacement.
- Ensures compliance with federal regulations, policies, and laws regarding construction, repairs, proper environmental protection, hazardous waste disposal, or use of chemical substances.
- Follows standard safety precautions; adheres to operators’ instructions when using power tools; wears recommended protective equipment such as goggles, hearing protectors, and work gloves.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
- Possess the stamina to work in the work environment described herein.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the maintenance-related field with knowledge of Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC.
- Thorough understanding of carpentry tools, techniques, and terminology.
- Good understanding of fundamental mathematics.
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Excellent guest service skills, time management, and organizational skills.

- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Must have a full range of physical motion to operate manual and electric power tools properly.
- Must have the balance necessary to traverse and work on scaffolding and roofs.
- Will work in various environments and weather exposed to dust, fumes, and chemicals in indoor and outdoor construction and carpentry.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
