Camp Executive Director
Snow Mountain Ranch – Granby, COSalary Range: $78,000.00 - $92,000.00
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center, and a residential camp serving more than 50,000 guests annually. The Executive Director is primarily responsible for the overall management and efficient operation of YMCA of the Rockies’ residential summer camp, Camp Chief Ouray (CCO). This includes the budget creation and management, meeting philanthropic goals, strategic planning for future growth goals of camp, alumni development, and leading a team of year-round and seasonal staff who are entrusted with the care of campers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to successfully plan and implement residential camping programs from inception, development, facilitation, and participant satisfaction.
- Assist in creating and assigning tasks in the CCO Strategic Initiatives Plan (SIP) or equivalent strategic plan, ensuring the work assists in the overall execution of the SMR and YMCA of the Rockies Strategic Action Plan or equivalent.
- Proven experience in effective promotion, fund raising and public relations which result in high enrollments, repeat business and positive attitudes toward the YMCA and its camping programs.
- Assist in creating a safe space for all by helping break down barriers for all Dimensions of Diversity including; hiring practices, forms, training, and all aspects of programs.
- Assist in moving forward the YMCA of the Rockies Diversity Initiative in camp programs.
- Possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
- Possess stamina to work in the work environment described herein.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in recreation, social science, education, or related field. Minimum of ten (10) years of residential camp experience along with a minimum of five (5) years of camp administration experience.
- Minimum of 25 years of age (per American Camp Association standards).
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills with parents/guardians, potential donors, alumni, staff, and peers.
- Recruit, hire, train, and coach staff.
- Experience in budgeting; creating and maintaining.
- Assist in the marketing of camp and improvement in the retention of campers over multiple years.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards of the American Camp Association and their applicability to programs.
- Be aware of and work to meet Colorado Child Care Licensing regulations and Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment regulations as it pertains to camp programs.
- Minimum of First Aid/CPR/AED certified for Adults and Children.
- Possess or the ability to earn YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification within five (5) years.
- Ability to act, problem solve, and communicate during times of crisis with the support of the YMCA of the Rockies incident command team.
- Ability to strategically plan five to ten (5-10) years into the future.
- Ability to identify, cultivate and be a liaison with vendors and outside agencies of like-minded missions.
- Actively participate and support the Snow Mountain Ranch Department Head team.
- Assist other departments within YMCA of the Rockies if available.
- Training in Mental Health First Aid and Restorative Justice a plus.
- Spanish bilingual a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather, hiking large distances over varied terrain.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up one (1) flight of steps.
- Short bursts of stooping, kneeling, bending, standing for long periods of time, etc.
- Prolonged periods at a computer and on the phone.
- Exposure to a noise level of a child care program can be high at times.
