Job Description

Position Summary:

The Post Office Clerk assists in serving staff, guests, box holders and other patrons of the Estes Park Center Post Office with accurate mail handling and processing.

 

Essential Functions / Requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be self-motivated and require little supervision
  • Have organizational skills for meeting deadlines for incoming and outgoing mail processing
  • Possess very good interpersonal skills to effectively serve guests and staff
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds up to four (4) feet high
  • Be able to stand in one place up to eight (8) hours a day
  • Be fluent in speaking and reading English to communicate clearly with customers and understand postal regulations
  • Provide all services normally offered by a U. S. Post Office to guests and staff of the Estes Park Center and residents of the surrounding area, including a large quantity of mail forwarding
  • Open the Post Office to serve guests and staff, except for federal holidays, according to hours set by the Center Director
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail according to schedules set by the Estes Park U.S. Post Office
  • Pick up and deliver mail to and from the Administration Building and the Schlessman Executive Offices
  • Learn, adhere to and remain current on U. S. Postal Service regulations, procedures and postage and package rates
  • Sell stamps, post office boxes and other post office merchandise
  • Safeguard stamps, post office merchandise and cash in accordance with internal control guidelines
  • Operate postage meter and other post office equipment

 

Other Functions / Requirements:

  • Experience handling accountable merchandise and cash preferred but not required
  • Possess a valid, USA state issued driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles
  • All other duties as assigned

Compensation:

This is a seasonal, hourly (based on 40 hours/week) position, paying $220/week, with employee perks including:

Drug and Alcohol Policy:

We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol or drugs on property; in addition, no drug use is tolerated (including marijuana) during your employment with us whether on- or off-duty.
