GENERAL YMCA OF THE ROCKIES REQUIREMENTS:

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers, who live and eat on-site at YMCA of the Rockies, will volunteer a minimum of 28 hours a week regardless of the time of the year.
Estes Park Center (EPC) and Snow Mountain Ranch (SMR)
Adventure Activities - EPC: Under the direction of the Adventure Activities Director, the Adventure Activities Volunteer will assist with facilitating climbing wall sessions, running the Adventure Activities info desk and leading on grounds guided hikes.
Building and Grounds - SMR: Responds to issues in guest and staff lodges and cabins and completes basic plumbing, heating, electrical and carpentry repairs. Performs preventative maintenance and completes and submits Work Requests. May also help with trash removal, recycling, litter pick-up, yard work and snow removal. Working outside is required in varied weather conditions. Work hours are scheduled between 7.30 am and 10.00 pm.
Campground Host - SMR: Provide a high level of guest satisfaction and the safety of all campground guests who use RVs, campers or tents. Ensure and encourage a neat and tidy appearance of campsites and the cleanliness of showers, restrooms, gathering spaces, fire pits and similar facilities. Confirms guest arrivals and departures and answers queries or directs guests to information sources. Requires ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. weight and work with various types of chemicals. Bringing your own RV, camper or tent to SMR is preferred but not essential. Must be available to work weekends.
Conference Administrative Assistant - EPC: The Conference Administrative Assistant Volunteer will support the Conference Department with phone reception, data entry, written and verbal correspondence, and all duties related to conference hospitality.
Conference Services - SMR: This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center, and a residential camp, serving more than 50,000 annually. The Conference Services Volunteer will assist the Conference Services Team with maintaining the cleanliness of public lobbies, gathering areas, restrooms and meeting spaces, as well as helping with meeting rooms setups and guest services deliveries.
Craft Shop - EPC or SMR: Teach arts and crafts to guests of all ages and abilities. Training is provided in volunteers assigned activities. Examples of activities are pottery painting, tie-dyeing, ceramics, mosaics, leather, and jewelry etc. Position requires excellent customer service skills and ability to manage several guests at the same time. Staff will not only instruct guest, but will also clean up after guests, problem solve with guests and support guests through the creative process. There will be general custodial tasks on a daily basis. On occasions the craft shop can be a very active environment. Volunteers should bring comfortable clothes to wear and be prepared for paint and dye to get onto clothing.
Fishing Instructor - SMR: Teaches ‘bait and bobber’ fishing to adults and children. Requires some knowledge of this type of fishing. An ability to teach casting for fly fishing will also be useful. Needs to be comfortable leading and supervising groups at waterside/reservoir and providing participants with an enjoyable and safe experience. Needs excellent customer service skills and preparedness to learn and operate a point of sale system if not already known. On occasion may be asked to help out with the bike rental program which is located in the same building.
Food Service - EPC or SMR: Responsible for providing guests with a positive dining experience. Employees rotate daily through a variety of duties such as clean tables, dining rooms, bathrooms; wash dishes; check meal tickets; stock supplies; and operate cash register.
General Store Clerk/Gift Shop - EPC or SMR: Ensures Gift Shop presents an appealing aspect to potential customers and is tidy and clean including glass display cases and windows. Sells merchandise, operates electronic cash register and maintains attractive displays. Position requires a high level of customer service skills because of the amount of customer interface. Regularly has to lift up to 25 lbs. weight to table height.
Hikemaster - EPC: The Volunteer Hikemasters lead guests, members and YMCA staff on hikes and provides interpretation in and around the YMCA grounds, Rocky Mountain National Park and regional national forests. The Hikemaster also provides customer service and administrative support at the hiking desk.
Housekeeping - EPC or SMR: Assists the Housekeeping Department where needed. This includes laundry, stripping linen from lodges & cabins, cleaning, stocking, preparing cleaning supplies for housekeepers, cleaning and servicing the public Laundromat, keeping equipment cleaned and maintained in good working condition. Some weekend work is required.
Human Resources - SMR: Assist with complete confidentiality in the Human Resources Office with administrative functions related to daily office operations including, but not limited to, filing, data entry, answering phones, sorting mail, making copies and phone interviewing applicants. Assist with special projects as needed. Requires excellent customer service interpersonal skills. Position needs the ability to operate a computer, other office equipment, and keeping the HR office organized.
Library Assistant - SMR: The Library is the source of books, DVDs, and puzzles for guests and staff to borrow while staying at the YMCA of the Rockies. The Library Assistant greets visitors and helps them locate materials they are interested in, and completes the check-out process. A friendly and helpful attitude is required for all guest and staff interactions.
Philanthropy - EPC or SMR: Assists the philanthropy team with assigned tasks. Is an Ambassador to our guests, members and donors, helping them to feel special. Is a communication liaison to guests regarding the multiple philanthropy and mission opportunities at Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch.
Post Office - EPC: assists in the basic, daily functions of the YMCA Postal Unit number #386. This includes selling stamps, distributing mail, sending mail, and managing package receiving and delivery.
Program Desk Attendant/Floater - EPC or SMR: Provides customer service to guests and members at the Program Desk which includes advising of available activities and programs, registration for pre-scheduled and published activities, sharing information about our Program Department, our Association, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Estes Park/Winter Park (depending on your work location), and accepting payment when appropriate. Manages a cash drawer and the online sign up system. May also lead family programs, recreation programs, youth programs, and museum tours. May include helping at the Library, Mini-Golf, Roller Rink, Sweet Memorial, Mountain Center, Craft Shop, Kiva/Gym, Tubing Hill & Ice Rink, Canoe Reservoir, or Swimming Pool. Lots of fun!
Hiking Mini Bus Driver - EPC: The Volunteer- Hiking Mini Bus Driver transports guests on YMCA guided hikes to their trailheads. The Volunteer- Hiking Mini Bus Driver will also provide costumer service and administrative support at the hiking desk.
History Guide - EPC or SMR: Responsible for assisting the Association Historian in the day-to-day operation of the historical sites and for providing high quality visitor experiences and history programs for guests. This includes leading guided history walks above 8,000 ft. elevation. In the absence of the Historian, they must assume responsibility of executing the essential functions of this position without supervision.
Guest Services Liaison - SMR: Works with the Guest Services Department to provide excellent services to groups and guests visiting Snow Mountain Ranch.
Lodge Assistant - EPC: The basic job function of this position is to maintain the lodges so they are clean and inviting. The lodge assistant also acts as the eyes of the lodge, being the first to report any problems needing attention by the janitorial department or the maintenance department. In addition to maintaining the cleanliness of the lodge the lodge assistant will greet guest as they arrive and assist them with locating their room. If the guests have questions or concerns, the lodge assistant is their first point of contact. The lodge assistant should be able to answer questions and provide suggestions regarding activities both at YMCA of the Rockies and in the surrounding areas.
Mountain Hub Lobby Host - SMR: Work as a Mountain Hub Lobby Host assisting the front desk and conference department in welcoming guests as they arrive and preventing overcrowding in the lobby area.
Nordic Center - SMR: Our award winning center offers over 100kms of groomed ski trails and provides guest a world class Nordic experience in the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Duties include opening and closing the Center, fitting and recording ski rentals and sales of equipment, issuing trail passes, ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the Center and its immediate surroundings, assisting on race days, answering phones and resolving questions about the trail system.
Pool Desk Attendant - SMR: YMCA of the Rockies Pool Desk Attendants will explain safety rules to patrons, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce policies on showers and proper attire. Pool Desk Attendants assist Lifeguards to ensure the safety of patrons in the facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. You will play an instrumental role in maintaining facility cleanliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, locker rooms and restrooms. Pool Desk Attendants must maintain test-ready CPR/First Aid skills and will be required to attend regular trainings.
Resident Assistant Driver - SMR: The Resident Assistants organize many staff trips for employees who are interested in museums, sporting events, shopping, local attractions, etc. This driver is responsible for the safe transport of staff on these trips, as well other transportation needs of staff including but not limited to trips to medical appointments and arrival/departure stations. Other driving errands may be assigned from time to time.
Staff Experience Team Member - EPC: Assist with complete confidentiality in the Human Resources/Staff Experience Team Office with administrative functions related to daily office operations including, but not limited to, filing, data entry, answering phones, sorting mail, making copies and phone interviewing applicants. Assist with special projects as needed. Requires excellent customer service interpersonal skills. Position needs the ability to operate a computer, other office equipment, and keeping the HR office organized.
Switchboard Operator - SMR: Manages and operates a computerized PBX, a radio base system and the computer system pertaining to the property. Requires the ability to quickly be able to manage and operate communications pertaining to the property. Service takes place in a busy, fast paced, office environment in which the volunteer must demonstrate positive communication skills and team work.
