POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Kitchen Manager is the assistant to the Head Cook and is responsible for the management of all kitchen & back of the house food service operations at Camp Chief Ouray in the absence of the Head Cook. The Assistant Kitchen Manager is also responsible for compliance with federal, state and county health regulations and ensuring all staff are adhering to the regulations. Dates of employment are May 1, 2025 - Sept. 1, 2025.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR ALL CAMP CHIEF OURAY STAFF:
- Create a safe space for all campers, families, and staff. Promote safe work practices to allow for development and growth for all.
- Possess the mental, social, and emotional skills necessary to build rapport and positive relationships, putting camper needs first
- Respond to camper and customer requests for service, troubleshoot problems and develop solutions in a patient and respectful manner.
- Contribute to a cooperative and positive camp community, be a team player
- Be responsible for the upkeep of the camp facility and cleanliness of camp. Report any repairs in a timely manner.
- Assist other departments as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR ASSISTANT KITCHEN MANAGER:
- Attend all pre-camp trainings.
- Ability to direct all aspects of food production including; storage, prep, portion control, inventory and record keeping.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and evaluate kitchen staff on efficiently working in a high production kitchen.
- Ability to follow protocols and safe practices when working with different food allergies and/or preferences with safety being the priority.
- Assist in keeping a clean work space and helping with dishes.
- Ability to work independently and problem solve on assigned tasks.
- Ability to follow health standards set forth by the Colorado Department of Public Health.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time.
- ServSafe certification a plus.
- Must have current certification in CPR/First Aid or be willing to obtain certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Be able to work inside and outside in all weather conditions
- Be able to hike on rugged terrain
- Be able to travel to different areas of the country for recruitment purposes.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds, climb/work on ladders and in tight spaces.
