Activity Facilitators lead family-oriented and group programs. They guide guests in a variety of activities and sports; they teach archery, outdoor nature activities and science experiments; they staff the mini-golf clubhouses, the roller rinks, and the Program desks. The facilitators share information about our Programs, our Association, Rocky Mountain National Park, and surrounding areas.

Craft Shop Instructors excel at creativity. They teach a variety of crafts to guests and staff, including ceramics, silk painting, glass fusion, wood burning, tie-dye, jewelry making, acrylic painting, and wood mosaics. Both centers have a dedicated Craft Center where instructors develop, implement, and oversee craft programs. Training is provided.

Adventure Activity Facilitators and Rocks and Ropes Facilitators are an experienced and trained group of staff who facilitate a high and low ropes course, instruct on a zip line, or teach rock climbing. Training and certifications are provided if applicant has a strong passion for outdoor adventure and pursuing a career in the outdoor industry.

Hikemasters lead guests and staff on hikes while providing interpretation and education in and around Rocky Mountain National Park, the YMCA grounds, and regional national forests. They have travelled miles of trails learning the terrain, the flora, the fauna, and the history of the Rocky Mountains to provide our guests with an unforgettable hiking experience. This position requires the ability to safely lead groups on hikes and nature walks of 2 to 20 miles in a variety of weather conditions.

Lifeguards ensure the safety of guests and staff by preventing and responding to emergencies and situations in the facility. Lifeguards are our safeguards; they monitor the pool and swimmers at all times, keeping the area safe from slips, trips, and falls, and keeping locker rooms clean and tidy. Lifeguards must maintain test-ready CPR/Lifeguarding/First Aid skills and will be required to attend regular trainings. The YMCA is willing to certify the right candidate; applicants must have the physical mobility to properly use aquatics equipment and meet strength & lifting requirements to rescue pool patrons. Opportunity for growth into Head Lifeguard position.

Childhood Development Work Opportunities at YMCA of the Rockies is offered through our on-site day care and preschool at Estes Park Center, the Beverly K. Booe Preschool, as well as through programs focused around elementary and secondary education through our Environmental and Outdoor Education Programs, as well as Day Camp Programs and Summer Camp Programs.

 

Assistant Preschool Teachers are responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programming, under all weather conditions. Assistant Teachers are responsible for the care of children 1-5 years, with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems. Using nature and play-based learning, the preschool provides a student-centered environment equipped with outdoor opportunities and materials to enhance each child's curiosity, empathy, and development. This is a seasonal position with opportunity for growth into year-round employment.

Summer Camp Positions at Camp Chief Ouray vary in focus, skill, and qualification level. The available departments to work within Camp Chief Ouray are Summer Camp Staff (Cabin Counselor, Day Camp Counselor, Wrangler, etc.), Leadership Training Programs & Backcountry Trip Staff (Backpacking and adventure leaders, mountain biking leaders, wilderness expedition leaders etc.), Administrative Staff (seasonal directors within the barn, waterfront, adventure, and leadership), and additional opportunities such as internships, volunteering, and nurses.

Environmental Education Instructors teach Experiential Science-Based Programs to 5th-12th grade students from around the country. Instructors get the opportunity to build relationships with their group of students over their 3-day program, in which instructors teach four three-hour science classes, two recreational activities, and two evening programs. This position Come make a difference and teach our youth about how to care for our environment. This position is offered in the spring and fall only.

Outdoor Education Instructors teach outdoor education classes, lead team building activities, facilitate climbing wall programs, perform organization tasks, communicate with schools and school leaders, and assist in any projects or tasks that better the Outdoor Education Program. Staff will received Wilderness First Aid, BEETLES Certification, and Project Learning Tree Certification. This position is offered in the winter/spring, and summer/fall only.

Staff Activities Facilitators ensure a welcoming, supportive, inclusive, and fun environment for all staff. This includes planning, organizing, promoting, and leading events and activities for a diverse group of staff and volunteers. Nordic Staff rent and sell ski equipment, issue trail passes, ensure a clean and safe Nordic center facility, assist with race days, and answer questions about our award winning 100 kilometers of groomed ski trails. Nordic Groomers keep our ski trails open and in pristine condition. They operate chain saws, snowmobiles and other Nordic grooming equipment. This is a great position for those who love winter and everything Nordic! This position is only available between November - April.
