POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center and overnight summer camp, serving more than 50,000 guests annually. The Housekeeping Laundry Manager is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient laundering and transportation of linens and management of inventory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Laundry Operations & Efficiency:

  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee daily laundry operations, ensuring efficient processing and distribution of linens, towels, and uniforms.
  • Implement workflow optimization techniques to reduce turnaround time while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping leadership to ensure timely delivery of clean linens based on occupancy and operational needs.
  • Monitor and adjust laundry schedules to accommodate fluctuations in demand, including peak seasons and special events.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure all Association, State, and Federal safety standards are met, including proper handling of chemicals and biohazards.
  • Develop and implement laundry quality control procedures to maintain high cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Regularly inspect linen and towel quality, identifying trends in wear-and-tear and implementing solutions to extend lifespan.
  • Train staff on proper stain removal, fabric care, and best practices to reduce waste and maintain linen quality.

Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Management:

  • Ensure preventative maintenance is completed on all laundry equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Monitor laundry equipment performance, reporting malfunctions and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues efficiently.
  • Explore technology upgrades and automation tools to improve laundry efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management:

  • Monitor and track supply, equipment, and linen inventories, ensuring adequate stock without over-purchasing.
  • Complete inventory and organization of storerooms throughout the property to ensure accessibility and efficiency.

Sustainability & Waste Reduction:

  • Implement eco-friendly laundry practices, including water and energy conservation initiatives.
  • Monitor chemical usage and explore biodegradable or low-impact alternatives to align with sustainability goals.
  • Develop linen and towel reuse programs in coordination with housekeeping leadership to minimize waste.

Leadership & Staff Development:

  • Train, supervise, and mentor a team of laundry attendants and linen transportation crew, ensuring efficiency and accountability.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Develop ongoing training programs focused on laundry techniques, equipment handling, and workplace safety.
  • Cross-train staff in multiple laundry roles to provide operational flexibility during peak times.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Learn carpet cleaning processes and provide training to other staff and departments as needed.
  • Gain a basic understanding of other director-level positions within the department to provide coverage as needed.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to wash, dry, and fold up to 5,000lbs of laundry per day.
  • Basic understanding and ability to use computer software.
  • Must possess physical strength to lift up to 30lbs repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to step into cleaning, laundry, or transportation roles as needed.

  • Must be able to work and drive in all weather conditions.
