POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Experience Team Member with a Resident Assistant designation is responsible for serving our staff and volunteers by developing relationships with them, enhancing their experience, and helping staff wholeheartedly engage in the mission of the YMCA of the Rockies. This position will have additional responsibilities related to the housing unit they are assigned and the staff that resides within including cleanliness, resident support, lock-outs, and responding to after-hours situations. Due to always being on call Resident Assistants will be except from paying any room and board fees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Work varied hours, including participating in an on-call rotation, and manage frequent interruptions based on supervisor or staff needs.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all Human Resources matters.

  • Assist with staff discipline as directed by the Resident Life Manager or, in their absence, the Human Resources Director.

  • Foster professional, unbiased relationships with all staff members.

  • Organize and lead regular meetings for staff residing in assigned housing.

  • Handle unexpected or challenging situations with professionalism, tact, and calmness.

  • Hold a valid U.S. state-issued drivers license with a clean driving record and comply with YMCA driving policies.

  • Communicate fluently in Englishspoken, written, and read.

  • Drive HR vehicles for staff-related activities, appointments, and errands. Responsible for vehicle cleanliness, fueling, fluid checks, and coordinating routine maintenance. Must be comfortable driving in mountainous and varied weather conditions.

  • Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming staff housing environments, including cleaning common areas such as hallways, bathrooms, and lobbies. Prepare rooms for incoming staff and inspect rooms post-departure.

  • Promptly report hazards and repair needs to the appropriate departments.

  • Enforce staff policies to maintain a respectful, orderly environment across all age groups and serve as a positive role model.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintain regular communication with staff through meetings, announcements, notices, and newsletters.

  • Creatively plan and implement activities to enhance the staff living experience.

  • Orient new staff to housing and YMCA of the Rockies facilities; facilitate introductions to foster a welcoming, inclusive community.

  • Possess strong computer and technical skills to efficiently navigate and support departmental systems and processes.

  • Assist the broader Human Resources team as needed.

  • Support other departments within the Estes Park Center based on business needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Work primarily takes place in staff housing and office environments with exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions, including varying weather.

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to navigate stairs, hallways, and uneven terrain safely.

  • Frequent interaction with staff and volunteers, requiring strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.

  • Must be available for on-call situations and able to respond promptly to emergencies or housing-related issues at any time.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
