Work less, explore more! Volunteering at YMCA of the Rockies is one of the best experiences you can give to yourself. Our volunteers are essential in supporting our Mission. In exchange for our volunteers’ time (minimum 6-week commitment), we make sure that all volunteers have ample time to enjoy everything we have to offer. For as little as 28 volunteer service hours per week (depending on season), volunteers receive free lodging, and meals, along with access to most activity benefits and facilities. YMCA VOLUNTEERS: A COMMUNITY FOR OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS AND SERVANT HEARTS!

Volunteers are one the greatest resource we have! Each year at YMCA of the Rockies, hundreds of volunteers enrich our guests’ experience through time spent both on and off-property. Volunteer opportunities are available in every department.

Who We Hire

RECREATION & PROGRAMS:

Do you enjoy working outdoors or love connecting people to the outdoors? Volunteer in the Programs department as an Adventure Activities Facilitator, Craft Shop Instructor, Hikemaster, Program Desk Attendant, Hiking Mini Bus Driver, History Guide, Nordic Center Staff, Pool Desk Attendant and more.

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS:

Are you skilled in maintenance and construction? If yes, volunteer in the Building & Grounds Department at Snow Mountain Ranch. Responds to issues in guest and staff lodges and cabins and completes basic plumbing, heating, electrical and carpentry repairs. Performs preventative maintenance and completes and submits Work Requests. May also help with trash removal, recycling, litter pick-up, yard work and snow removal.

CAMPGROUND HOSTS:

Are you part of the RV community? Spend your summer at Snow Mountain Ranch helping welcome guests and staff to our campground! We offer tent camping, RV camping, and have a yurt village.

CONFERENCE SERVICES:

This is a great volunteer position for someone who enjoys working and setting up special events or helping with phone reception and data entry.

HOSPITALITY:

Volunteer opportunities available in our Food Service and Housekeeping departments, as well as our Rustic Café and Buckboard Grill. Lodge Assistants, Mountain Hub Lobby Hosts, and Switchboard Operators are also needed to help answer questions and respond to guest needs.

GENERAL STORE/ GIFT SHOP CLERKS:

This is a great position for someone who enjoys connecting with guests and staff on-property. We host guests from all over the world who want to bring a piece of the YMCA back with them.

HUMAN RESOURCES:

Are you a former HR specialist who misses connecting with people? Volunteer in Human Resources and assist with administrative functions related to daily office operations including, but not limited to, filing, data entry, answering phones, sorting mail, making copies and phone interviewing applicants. Also hiring for Resident Assistant Drivers and Staff Experience Team Members.

PHILANTHROPY:

Were you a longtime guest or former staff member at YMCA of the Rockies and want to give back by being an ambassador to members and donors? Volunteer in Philanthropy!

POST OFFICE:

Because our property is so big, we have our own Post Office. Help manage staff packages and help guests send postcards.

That’s great! Here’s what you need to know in order to prepare for your volunteer experience with us.

How do I apply to be a volunteer?
Search our current opportunities and complete our online application. Please have your information, skills and work experience (if you upload a resume, some information will auto-fill). Additionally, if you have not worked or volunteered with YMCA of the Rockies within the past three years, you will need to provide the name, phone number and email address of three references - one reference from a family member and the other two from individuals who know you professionally (former supervisors, professors, pastors, etc.).
What housing is provided?

As part of your employment package, you’ll be provided with on-site complimentary lodging. Housing is for staff members and volunteers ages 18 years and older.

At Estes Park Center, staff members and volunteers will be housed in staff dormitories or at Friendship Circle (female only). Married couples and/or domestic partners be housed together upon receipt of proof of marriage or domestic partnership (both persons must be employed or volunteering to live in staff housing). The staff housing includes shared TV lounges with wifi available.

At Snow Mountain Ranch, volunteers are provided with accommodations in Pinewood Lodge, a smaller dorm facility for staff members ages 40+, primarily serving our volunteer community. Rooms are doubles and can accommodate a couple. Each room has a full bathroom. There are TV lounges with a refrigerator and microwave in our staff dormitories. All rooms have a private telephone and internet access.

Also at Snow Mountain Ranch, we offer volunteers the option to stay at Geronimo Campground. All sites have electric hook ups (ranging from 15-50 Amps). while others have additional water and/or sewer. Geronimo Campground is open from mid-May to mid-September.

Do I get time off?
Absolutely! We want you to explore the beautiful surroundings and take advantage of the Y’s amenities and staff discounts at various local attractions. We believe in building healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Are drugs/alcohol permitted on property?
We have a zero-tolerance policy for drugs on-property, including marijuana, during your employment with us whether on or off duty. Staff over the age of 21 and older may consume alcoholic beverages only in private rooms within staff housing sleeping accommodations.
